Just down the road from our hotel is Kimberly Street, where in the evening dozens of Hawkers set up their stalls. Right outside Sin Guat Keong Coffee Shop is a Char Koay Teow stall – rice noodles fried up with shrimp, egg, beansprouts and chilli. I have to say this was the tastiest noodle dish I’ve had the entire time in Asia! Perfectly balanced spices and an amazing chargrilled flavour from the well-seasoned wok.
I tried another one the next night at Red Garden Food Court, made famous by Anthony Bourdain’s visit, but it wasn’t half as good! Will definitely stop by here again.

Hi babe, we had a super meal last night, too – bought from the Chinese takeaway up the road!
