Luang Prabang is a small city in Northern Laos which sits on the Mekong river. It has a peaceful, small town feel and the pace of life is slow. We ended up spending a week there just soaking up the atmosphere.
Listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, Luang Prabang is a fusion of traditional Lao houses and French colonial architecture, with the sacred Mount Phousi at its heart.
There are several famous temples and waterfalls to see in the surrounding countryside. You could easily see everything in a few days but we were so relaxed there that a week just flew by! The night market offers up handmade crafts and some great food options down small alleyways.
